Chapter 11

Rogge woke up, and the rough wooden roof slowly cleared in front of his eyes. The slight swaying from underneath made him understand that he was in a carriage. With another big sway of the carriage,  the sting spread from his wound to the whole body, so that he couldn't help but moan loudly.

“Awake? Rogge?” With a bang, the curtain of the window was opened, and Emmet’s big head came in.

"Where am I? How long have I been unconscious? …. Hey!! This damn broken carriage! And this path! Are we driving on the field?"

"Don't worry, we will be back at Fort Farborg in two hours. There is a priest, there. At the moment, you can only protect your wounds with the little potions that come with you. Your life is really tough, ah so Fragrant, roasted, the brothers almost added you in the food at night," Emmet smiled with a gloating face.

"Damn, we are missing a priest. The next time I am free, we have to get one. How is Frost's medicine so bad! It hurts me. He would have made a good medicine if he had put half the effort of his magic weapon."

"How was the fight?"

"In addition to you, we have four brothers injured, not light, alas."

"I want to get a patrol cavalry team." Emmet shook his head and continued. "We won the lottery this time. Come on it really was Silver Snow Fox and it was an elite snow fox brigade. The number is not too much. There are more than 300 people, which is ten times that of ours."

"Damn, their captain is bad, fast and an intermediate knight.

"Fortunately, the guy’s brain was not so good. He had to be singled out with Keith. Grandma’s, Franco immediately shot an arrow on his ass.”

On the day of the forest combat, the patrol cavalry captain was captured and given a few rounds of torture.

Later, Lawrence removed his trousers, and covered honey on it, and found an ant colony. After a few minutes, he gave his confession.

After the Silver Snow Fox team occupied this small Cyrus, they sealed the Lord's house and grabbed more than a hundred young men from nearby villages. They have been digging day and night. However, this task seems to be quite confidential, and the position of the patrol captain had not yet reached that level of confidentiality.

After Lawrence fiercely sprinkled more salt in the already bruised wounds, the patrol captain immediately screamed. "I will say, I will say!"

"It seems that the lord had enshrined a necromancer in the house, it is said to be the mage's lab!! Water, hurry up and give me a water!"

Lawrence had asked him again and again and after convinced that nothing could be asked anymore, had swiped the dagger, ending the knight's pain.

As many people were seriously injured, and the only mage Rogge became a roast pig, the most important thing was that these 30 people were not enough to continue the mission. Seeing, these the noble debauchees, together, quickly ran away.

Anyway, there were still four months from the appointed deadline.

This time, it was not without any gains. At least they understood the fact that their strength was still far away from the Silver Snow Fox team.

As for the spoils.

"Pooh!"

"What first-class mercenary group elite team, poor like a grandson. It was just crap." Responsible for cleaning the battlefield, Keith was extremely keen on the image of the knight.

..........................

The middle-aged priest who gave Rogge's injury a look at the church in Fort Farborg did not seem to be very strong. Rogge's injury was cured only after using six or seven heal magic in succession. The fat man jumped from the bed and threw him two gold coins, ignoring everything, and hurriedly escaped. He instinctively hated such places. If the effect of the priest's healing was really not needed, he was never willing to step into the place.

Nightfall.

The group met in the most prosperous "Rhine Night" in Fort Farborg. The place here was actually the gold nest of Farbourg. From wine to women, the Rhine night was said to provide the best of all Farbourg. Naturally, it was not a place that ordinary commoners can afford, but the merchants and nobles who traveled south to the north, making the business here flourish.

“Rhine Night” was a towering three-story building, but it was equal to almost an ordinary six-story building.

In front of it was a wide square. At night, there will always be a huge crowd of large and small luxury and expensive carriage.

There was a magical fountain with a diameter of nearly five meters in front of it. The water rushed straight into the sky until it was five or six meters high and then scattered. On the water mist, a purple magical flame burned around the clock. At the bottom of the fountain was a large magical array. The colorful magical light flames shined on the mist, creating a romantic and mysterious atmosphere. A magical array of Light such as that cost a lot to maintain it every day.

Through the 4 meters high gate, the golden wall in the lobby of the Rhine Night was brilliant, and with magical splendor, it was gilded with a touch of gold. Arts from all over the world were scattered throughout the hall.

The second floor of the Rhine Night was divided into separate compartments, which were decorated in the artistic style of the major countries of the continent, and was an important source of conspiracy and fornication.

On the third floor, there was another larger hall. Every weekend, there were often slave auctions held, and occasionally there are other large-scale events.

There were more or less, slaves in the Gloria continent. The sources of these slaves were often prisoners of war, rebellion, and other intelligent races such as dwarves, elves, orcs, and even dragons.

These wars often occurred between humans and the intelligent races on the continent, just like the war between the various countries. In comparison, it was the war between human beings that happened often.

Basically, many people within the human counties would accept other intelligent races, as the Church of the Holy Light preached, that human is the most favored children of the god, but other races were also the children of the god.

Most slaves were used for menial works, and of course, the slaves auctioned on the Rhine Night will not be these inferior goods.

Goldy and his apprentices were bought by Rogge from here.

.........................

After the "Hammer of War God" business became more and more prosperous, Rogge and others became frequent visitors here. These noble debauchees belong to the kind of people who are less ambiguous. Of course, this was compared with other nobles who had real power or pure bloodlines. This was developed natural, however, it was inevitable that there will be some temperament of the nouveau rich, especially Rogge. Even Franco couldn't be excused, and occasionally pretended to say some mundane sentences in front of outsiders.

"Hey, it is too late on the Rhine Night, and yet there is no spirit."

At this time, several debauchees were slouching in the corner of the lobby, and the second floor was for the rich and expensive guest to go up, where Rogge and others were still not qualified.

"Those bones of the necromancer, I really don't understand how someone would be so interested that it was worth sending three hundred people to take risks. Grandma, damn foxes were too poor, and martial arts was really good!" Emmet sighed.

"More than three hundred people, what do we do? Just look at the level of these 30 people, and we have to gather at least 600 people. According to the current equipment, our money can only equip 100 people," Keith was also very depressed.

"Alas..." Franco sighed. "If this is not done, the money will be the small matter. When it is time, the Duke of Bavaria would not be happy."

"Don't be discouraged. We killed their mage, and whose level was not low!  Such level of people, the mercenary brigade is estimated to have only one or two. Now it should be they, that should be afraid of us, anyway, six cavalry scout and a mage are gone, maybe they are panicking in the same way, hahaha," Rogge looked around, but no one laughed. He had to turn haha into two hehe.

"Can't just consider it as finished!" Keith suddenly got excited. "My dad has been fighting for so many years, with the military.

Also because he was only a baron, he had been put on the position of the deputy commander of the city defense army for more than ten years. Damn, he is the Rank 15 High-level knight. Chambers, that fat pig, not only because he is a count, but also the nephew of the deputy minister of military affairs, sits in the position of the commander? Damn, if he can achieve the level of the Rank Eight knight, this father will lick his son's buttocks!

"This opportunity, we cannot let go!" "We must find more people and more good people than them."

"You are good, at least you can inherit a baron." "My father has been around for ten years without moving anywhere. I can't even inherit the baron. Alas, even if we few brothers were the nobleman, what good life was there?. In fact, when I was in the capital when I went to find a prostitute and I got robbed."

"If Rogge’s brain was not good, and had not opened the 'Hammer of War God’, wouldn't we would have been looking at this place with despair? Could we come inside the Rhine night?"

"Come on, brothers! Don't be unhappy, Franco interrupted the two knights. "Why don't you look at the commoners who are always get robbed. You think you are in a low position? Keith, you are going to steal the fun. It’s not bad for your father and son to be regarded as a dark knight."

"Anyway, this opportunity is hard to come by. Don’t worry why Orpheus is looking for us, but this is going to be a good chance to curry favor with the great Duke of Bavaria!"

"Let's start with what to do next!"

Rogge poured a mouthful of wine and had a little inspiration. "The first thing is to recruit and, recruit as much as we can, this time we don't need to prepare good equipment for them."

"It is better if they are poor but strong! The key is that the weapon should be better. The horses, we don't have to prepare so much of them. So how can we not get 300 of them? Keith, Emmet, you two will be practicing with these for two months. Look at that mercenary brigade, it was so poor, at most there is another magician with them. This time when we charge at that outfit, how can we not kill the magician?"

The "Hammer of War God" will be out of the ordinary goods these days."

....................

Lawrence conveniently touched the buttocks of the passing waitress, and stared amorously at her, following her into the back hall with his eyes.

He regained his gaze and said, "We don't play straight with them! They have many people, when we see them we run fast, We circle them. Sooner or later they will be unable to bear and come out of their tortoiseshell. Let's find some people from the thieves' guild, will arrange traps and lead them to have a good taste."

"Right, more crossbows, arrows are little inconvenient at the closeup, but the short bolts are ok. If they just rely on those broken armors of the mercenary, they will cry. Oh, You must coat poison on the tip of the crossbow bolts."

The few people with the same spirits were greatly inspired and started to discuss the schemes and tricks. The meeting of the debauchees with same minds, they are intriguing.

They deliberated and discussed, ambush, poison, pits, trapped horses, luring, pretending to die, all kinds of insidious tricks, and many more.

..................................

The sky had become lighter, and under it, looking at each other and giving sinister smile, everyone got up at once. In the great hall, it raised quite a few eyebrows.

The "Dragon and Beauty" mercenary group had recently become a small topic in Farborg. The recruitment of more than 200 mercenaries at the same time caused a little sensation. Although the name of the group was a bit vulgar, it was surprising that quite a few veteran and free soldiers joined, for the reason no other than for the beauty being like-minded with the noble debauchees.

In the internal training ground of the Thieves Guild, Lawrence was working hard with 20 thieves round the clock. When Lawrence was chased by the mercenaries, he changed his lazy habits. After all, surviving was more important.

This time he finally found out that he was born to be a thief. Nothing was more suitable for his dark mentality than hiding in the dark with a hidden weapon and traps to kill the enemy.

More importantly, there was no better job for peeping than a thief.

Count Wennington, after hearing about the adventures of the noble debauchees, was silent. Only the next day, his fifty heavy armored cavalry guards withdrew from the military service and joined the mercenary group.

Keith also picked out a hundred men from the mercenary group, matched with horses, chain mail armor and halberd, and turned them into a semi-light halberd cavalry.

For the next two months, Keith trained with these knights in the training ground.

The remaining 200 people of the mercenary group were led by Emmett. Emmett, who had already converted several professions, had recently resolved to become a magic swordsman. It was only appropriate for him to train infantry.

As for Franco, he said one superficial sentence,  "My life is art", and was busy designing the mercenary flag and the group logo.

The people were extremely depressed, until one day they accidentally bumped into him holding a fine stabbing sword and working hard on the humanoid target, immersed in the practice of fencing.

The dense sword dents were all in the eyes, wrists, thighs, and even under the genitalia, everywhere there was no protection of the armor. The people looked at the scalp tingling the scene, especially Keith as a knight, his face was extremely ugly. Franco's swordsmanship handed down in the family was known for its footwork, which was considered to be a superior swordsmanship, and now joined with such sinister and vicious methods of warfare, its power was greatly increased.

Everyone remembered the top-grade thorn sword that Frost had created for him the day before yesterday with electrical paralysis effect, giving them chills.

As for the poison, that was all right, everyone did it anyway.

Rogge was not meditating all day long, he was hiding in the laboratory researching magic, occasionally he would wear the full armor and mixed in Emmet's team to practice with the ax.

..............................

In the lab, Rogge muttered a spell, the smoke dissipated, and the Love stood before him. At the moment, the Love, carrying a long knife in the right hand and a broken shield on the left hand, looked more imposing than before.

At least, compared with the necromancer's common skeleton soldier, it was not too bad. Rogge always had tried to study where the knife and shield of the Love came from. He had tried to give the love some new equipment, and the love very obediently dressed them. But after the love was sent back to the other world, the equipment was left behind.

During the next summoning, he was still carrying the same long knife and the shield.

Rogge looked for Frost and he was also puzzled by the undead magic.

There was a strict classification of magic on the continent, and the distinction between the areas are not obvious. Most of the magicians who were proficient in some aspects of magic could display the magic of other areas, but only a few spells. However, the spells that are extremely opposite to each other could not be performed.

For example, undead magic, most intermediate magicians could call out a skeleton if they wanted.

However, the quantity was not much and the quality would be average. Because of the limited combat power of the skeleton, a well-trained soldier could deal with three or two skeletons alone, so it was not practical unless it could be summoned in large numbers.

The necromancers, however, were different. They dedicated themselves to the god of death and could convert themselves into undead creatures. The strength of the undead was greatly enhanced. They were often paranoid and evil because they were increasingly eroded by the breath of death. Only a few people who became the necromancers could maintain the clarity of the mind.

The various curse in the undead magic and the dark magic were very effective in the war, so the rulers of various countries often acquiesce to the existence of such mages, and only the necromancer who was transformed into an undead was not allowed to be in the world. This was also partly due to the great achievements of Rodriguez. Since then, the Church of Holy Light had been trying to kill every necromancer on the continent. For more than 20 years, this line of magic had been extinct.

But the biggest difference between "Love" and general skeleton, was intelligence. Rogge himself did not know why he knew this. The damn necromancer did not give him a bit of magic knowledge, especially did not leave a trace of his treasure trove of knowledge.

Every time Rogge stared at the Love, he always felt that love was watching him. One man and a skeleton often staring at each other's eyes for a long time.

When Rogge was a little idle, under the guidance of Frost, he changed his equipment little by little. Now, the rich and powerful Rogge could already wear four good magic-enhancing rings on his ten fingers. In recent months, the use of spiritual force to control the magic had become more skillful.

Although he could only cast Rank three spells as a Rank 5 mage, he could cast three Rank-three spells with ease.

Rogge’s day and night study were not on the most popular fireball spell that was currently on the most favorite list of mages but the speed of the spell chanting. After several trials, he found several syllables that could be shortened, and the duration of the spell was reduced by one-third.

The hot weather slowly passed, and the strength of debauchees was enhanced bit by bit. The "Dragon and Beauty" mercenary group also began to take shape. Count Winnington had secretly observed the training of the mercenary group and later nodded to Keith. The time for the agreed deadline was getting closer and closer, and everyone’s heart began to feel dry. In the past month, with the growing skill of Lawrence, he often took his thieves near the vicinity of Fort Cyrus and brought back a lot of useful information. Of course, the incident of theft in Farborg has also increased slightly. They just didn't know how big the remnant of the necromancer was that even after digging for half a year, it still was not finished.

While faced with the enemy, the noble debauchees in a rare chance were not out making trouble, but for but were practicing hard. Of course, their sinister tricks, poisoned weapons, were never taken out. There were occasionally sparring with the face full of chivalry. Although a few people on the side would have liked to go and make trouble, under the crowd gaze, the noble status must be maintained.

Even if it was a true son of a prostitute, the memorial still had to be made.

Chapter 10: Ambush (Part Two)

The patrolling knights were slowly following the path while digesting the breakfast. Despite them being in the forest they were not too worried about their own safety, after all, a  mid-level mage was secretly protecting them. The thick-headed cavalry team did not consider the chances of being a bait. A few people talked about the young village girl who they met during the patrol last month, from white skin, a slightly thick but powerful waist, a scream of sorrow, and a wonderful struggle, especially the twist of the waist. Moving and scream getting louder and louder.

..................

Death always came at the most unexpected time. Deep from the depths of the trees,  arrows suddenly flew out like locust, 20 arrows from the three machine crossbow all aimed at the three cavalries walking in front of the patrol.

The skill of the patrol cavalry was quite good, reacting quickly to the incoming arrow, and incredibly blocking off half. But the three people in front of the patrol still fell, struck by the arrows.

The three cavalrymen who were behind them responded quickly and rushed into the woods,  not giving the mercenaries a second chance to fire their arrows.

The mercenaries dropped their bows and arrows and pulled out the sword to start a melee fight.

The martial skills of the patrol knights were good, especially the knight wielding a great sword. He manipulated the horses nimbly around the trees and rushed to the middle of the three mercenaries who had just pulled out the sword. The greatsword swung down, sweeping a mercenary, and then like lightning stabbed toward the second mercenary. The mercenary raised his sword, and a steel shield on his left arm to protect his heart. The sword tip and the steel shield drew a spark making a shrill sound on impact. The curved shield forced the tip of the sword to slide to the side. The mercenary was swept up by a huge force and the sound of fracture sounded from his arm from the clash.

Immediately, the knight snorted, and his great sword swung down again into the mercenary, and with no steel armour to protect the lower half of the body, the sword strike made a bone-deep wound on the thigh.

The third mercenary turned around and hid behind the trees. The Great Sword Knight swept his eyes around and found the armour in that mercenary was much more gorgeous. He immediately ignored the two mercenaries who were wounded and urged the horse to chase.

That mercenary was Lawrence. At this moment, his life was almost over, and he was full of sweat. He agilely dashed around the trees like a rogue, but the knights behind could always catch up with him.

The other two patrol cavalry did not have the luck or the skill like him. A horse tried to chase a mercenary, but suddenly two halberds came at him from behind the tree. He was shocked in his heart. He hurriedly clipped the horse belly and the horse jumped three metres up escaping the strike. However, another halberd came silently from behind, and easily cut open the leather armour, almost cutting him in two halves.

Keith gently jumped down from the tree, had no time to check the body, and quickly rushed toward the sound of the fight.

Another patrol cavalry was surrounded by five mercenaries led by Emmet. As the tiger couldn't stand the group of wolves, and soon he was sneaked into a thigh by a mercenary, and then he was cut down by a sword.

The Great Sword Knight followed Lawrence again and again in circles. However, the two screams from far away made him change his mind as dialled the horse's head, ready to escape.

His horse suddenly jumped up, as an arrow came and got stuck in the buttocks of the horse, dismounting the knight.

He was in danger, and after a roll, he stood up and found that Keith was standing in front of him holding the blood-stained ax.

From the rear, Emmet appeared holding a sword. Franco, who was armed with a hand-held crossbow, and also Lawrence who had just struggled to escape.

The knight’s palms were sweating and he cursed: “Where is that damn mage?”

........................................................

The mage himself was in a bad position. After discovering that someone had used the Mage's Eye,  he had applied invisibility and quickly and carefully approached the battlefield.

In the distance the fighting had begun to sound and fortunately, he found a knight with a strong armour in the woods, 30 meters away. Looking at the knight who was dressed like a commanding officer, the mage secretly thanked his luck.

A lightning strike hit the middle of the target. Watching the knight fall over with a small electric spark, the mage swaggered toward the fallen knight. He was very convinced of the power of his spells, not to mention the second lightning spell he had prepared in reserve.

The knight struggled to stand up, and the second lightning crossed the air and hit him again. But this time the knight did not fall down but turned around, however, there was only a skull under the helmet, and the deep eye sockets with pale flames occasionally flashing was, staring at the mage

The mage was aghast seeing this as the skeleton seemed to be smiling at him.

The mage felt his mouth dry and his palms sweating. The instinct formed after years of fighting enabled him to quickly activate an amulet. A white light column rose from his foot and disappeared. But the magic force field that was invisible to the naked eye had already covered the mage. The Rank 2  spell "Magic Armor" was economical and practical, easy to learn, and is definitely a must for magicians to travel and defend themselves.

He was already an intermediate mage, but he still used the amulet to activate this Rank 2 spell. The main purpose was that he wanted to seize the time to chant the next spell.

...................................

Timing on the battlefield was the second life of the mage. The same mana, the same spell, the one that finished first will take the lead.

The time for different people to chant spells was different, after all, accents, language, habits, and even the mood of the day was likely to affect the performance of the spell. As recognized in the mainland, the person with the stutter was unlikely to become the master the magic.

But the spell was not always better the faster it was, and not when the faster it was, the higher the probability of failure and the advanced the spell was, the longer it was. The more important syllables in many spells could not be shortened, it was a big problem.

Which syllables could be shortened was often the biggest secret of a mage, and even the closest disciples were not necessarily taught.

..............................

The mage's spell was quickly completed, and a summoning circle appeared on the ground, and a magical creature began to slowly form as the light shone.

At this time, Rogge had quietly gone around the mage, came from behind and swung the ax at the mage.

Expecting the mage to be separated from his body, Rogge felt that the ax seemed to have suddenly cut a large piece of butter and involuntarily turned to one side. As a rookie who touched the ax for a few days, he would not control the ax that was swung down.

The mage was startled, and his side flashed. The ax had drawn a long wound on his shoulder. Rogge flew up again and raised his leg to sweep the mage. Sure enough, he felt like he had kicked a cotton pile. However, the strong foot still kicked the mage.

............................

"Howl!"

A roar rang in the back of Rogge. Rogge looked back and saw a black tiger rushing.

"Really!"

Rogge screamed unluckily. After successfully getting closer to the mage, he could not have any good results.

He did not expect that his pet to be a rare combat type, and Rogge had only a cloth shirt for armour in his body. It did not look like it could block the black tiger's teeth.

The ax suddenly came down from the air and cut at the black tiger, it turned out that the Love had dragged the bulky armour and finally rushed over.

The black tiger quickly shifted its target and rushed toward the Love.

Seeing this, Rogge wiped a cold sweat, smirked and turned to the mage who climbed up from the ground and slashed the ax. Although there was the protection of magic armour, how was that mage an opponent of Rogge? Soon he was constantly seeing red. After several spells were interrupted, the mage bit his teeth and hurled colourful gems toward the opponent. This time in the middle of the fight for Rogge's life, Rogge's offence slowed down and began to hesitate, to pick up some to have a good look.

The mage seeing the chance, galloped away, wanting to escape, but unexpectedly a branch suddenly rose and tripped his heel. The wounds on the body were aching together, and the mage almost fainted.

Love was in a fight with the black tiger. The armour was too heavy, and the axe was not easy. For a skeleton with limited strength, the knight' equipment was not very suitable.

In line with the level of the magician, this black tiger was quite harmful. It was a pity that its teeth could not damage Rogge's carefully crafted steel armour.

Compared with a few months ago, the bones in the present Love were well-proportioned, the colour was soft and clean, and the joints between the bones were dense and smooth, which were of top quality.

In the battle with the black tiger so far, Love at the cost of his exposed leg bones cut the black tiger with the ax and smashed half of the tail. The black tiger left a few teeth marks on the thigh bone of Love, and several cracks.

Feeling the vague sensation anxiety that came from the direction of Love, Rogge looked back to check the situation there.

It was at this distracted moment, and a faint sound of spell came from behind him. Rogge immediately turned back and saw a scroll burning in the hands of the grinning mage. The bowl big fireball was already in front of him.

Rogge had no choice but to block his face with an ax and lay down on the ground.

Chapter 1 – Apple

By Year 682 of the Holy Calendar, Rogge Horta Reeves had already attended the Rhine Magic Academy for four years. He was considered quite intelligent among his peers. In another two years, he would be able to leave the school as an official mage.

In this age of turmoil, magicians were very popular because of their destructive power. At the same time, due to the common weaknesses of magicians, such as their lack of stamina and long casting times, the protection of magicians became the highest priority in war. Despite this, even the most experienced generals could not completely avoid casualties.

Mastering magic required talent, and becoming a qualified magician required a fairly long time. Thus, the number of magicians on the continent was quite sparse, while their status was inversely quite high. Furthermore, most high-rank magicians were considered wealthy due to the high prices of magical materials such as gems, mithril, and dark steel. High-rank magic items made it possible for juniors to beat their seniors. Someone once said that the power of a magician was proportional to his wealth.

Rogge’s father, Lord Reeves, could only be considered a lower-class noble of the Rhine City-State Alliance. His fiefdom only consisted of a small town and several villages where the population was a meagre several thousand. Yet no matter how low of a noble he was, Rogge was still entitled to the “Horta” in his name, which signified that he was the heir to a lower-class noble within the Rhine City-State Alliance.

The names for this continent were numerous because almost every country called it by a different name. With the rise and expansion of the Holy Church over the past few years, the myriad countries gradually accepted the name of Gloria, meaning the Hymns of the Gods, as the name of the continent. The Rhine Alliance was located in the southeast of the continent and consisted of ten duchies. Compared to the three great powers — Dero Empire, Austro-Hunagry and Aethropolis — it could only be considered a second-tier country. Yet although the Rhine Alliance may have been worse off than some, it was still better off than many. The Alliance’s King Louis XIV frequently showed off his military force to the remaining thirty small countries, especially the neighbouring Ron Duchy and Kidou City-state. But thanks to this king’s interests in the arts, beauties, and immortality, rather than in the expansion of territory, the Alliance has remained peaceful towards its neighbours for more than a decade.

In line with the status of the Alliance, the Rhine Magic School was a second-tier magic school on the continent. Located to the north of the capital Rhine City, the school only provided an ordinary education, which directly led to its failure to nurture any world-shaking characters in its three hundred-year-old histories.

And as a result of the heavy demand for magicians, magic schools were the most equal place within the continent’s rigid hierarchy.

At the very least, it was rare to see a commoner magician beaten to death by a noble one. In addition, a commoner magician who had successfully graduated would have a high chance of becoming a noble after gaining a bit of experience.

………………….

Rogge’s family was on the decline with only four servants at hand, which was quite embarrassing for a manor-owning noble family. Old Reeves, aside from his explosive temper, had no abilities in financial management and had no way to stop the family’s income from decreasing year after year.

However, this did not hinder Rogge from learning the vices of a noble: arrogance, lust, violence, and even qualities that common nobles lacked, such as wickedness and cunning.

At the age of 14, Rogge had his first sexual experience with his servant girl. Since then, the small manor became a place of pandemonium. Old Reeves had no choice but to send him to the Rhine Magic School a year later, at the expense of the remaining few heirlooms.

Rogge had never expected any further support from Old Reeves. But in order to satisfy his daily pleasures, he needed money. Thus, relying on his sweet-talking, he curried favour with a mid-ranked magician named Frost and helped him manage the magic laboratory, doing Frost’s dirty work.

………………

At the moment, Rogge was busy studying a bead that had inexplicably appeared in front of him. It was a dull, pale bead with a few cracks on it that gave the impression of being worthless. It had only one characteristic that was a little unusual: two beams of light, one white and one black, flickered within it.

Rogge opened his eyes wide, carefully evaluating the value of this bead. But he would never have thought that the bead was also studying him.

Suddenly, the bead split open and the dark beam drilled into Rogge’s forehead, entering his mind. Rogge’s entire body began to squirm around as if it were a mollusc.

From time to time, a part would swell up here, another part would sink there, and black blood would spurt out from his skin.

…………………..

Finally, Rogge slowly opened his eyes, his eyes a sheet of black, and gave out a gloomy laugh.
“The strength of this soul isn’t bad.”

Rogge looked at the fragments of the bead. Just at this moment, that white light within it also struggled free and flew outward, however it was unable to fly too far away from the bead fragments.

 Rogge’s eyes flashed.

The white beam and the bead fragments were also sucked into his forehead.

A bleak cry echoed in the lab and Rogge’s body became like boiling water, it was a long time before it subsided. When he opened his eyes again, he had regained his ordinary appearance.

The black light was the soul of Rodriguez, who had successfully escaped from the Judgment Light and avoided the pursuit of the Heaven with the help of a divine artefact Soul Bead.

However, the power of Judgment Light was unimaginable. The strength of a true God was naturally incomparable to that of a so-called divine artefact, to say nothing of the Judgement Light that was unleashed by Heaven’s Lord of the gods to annihilate the powerful evil in the world.

After the battle at Odi Shrine from where Rodriguez escaped, the power of the soul bead had already been exhausted and could not be kept intact.

The necromancer did not actually eliminate Rogge’s soul; rather, he chose to fuse with it, keeping all of Rogge’s temperament. Due to the finite capabilities of the soul bead, most of which had been used to seal Vena’s soul, Rodriguez abandoned his vast knowledge of magic and only took along with his soul the understanding of the essence of magic.

At this moment, only a bit of power from the core of Vena’s soul remained. Now called God’s Essence, its entire consciousness had already disappeared long ago. This small amount of God’s Essence was also brought and fused into the soul.

“I have already been branded by too many imprints in this world and all I am capable of is destruction. Perhaps to this world, creation is the most important. When an apple jumps onto the chessboard and begins to smash around violently, it affects the entire board more than a chess piece.”

…………

Rogge’s innate talent was only average.

After four years of half-hearted practice, he was merely a Rank 2 magician and could only use basis and Rank 1 spells.

According to the regulations of the Rhine Magic School, when one was able to release two different Rank 2 spells, only then one would become a Rank 4 magician and could graduate. But with the fusion with the necromancer’s soul brought along matchless spiritual power, which could be used to attain an extremely high level of magic control and comprehension. After all, a magician’s strength did not only depend on magic power; but also the understanding and control of magic that were more important.

However, according to Rogge’s understanding, a magician’s strength still depended on cunningness and wealth.

According to him, “A Rank 1 magician with reinforcement rings on all ten fingers would absolutely overpower a Rank 2 one without any items.” The necromancer actually agreed on this point. After all, the difference between a Rank 1 magician and a Rank 2 one was like that between a fool and an idiot. And given Rogge’s strength, making him understand the might of Rank 4 and higher magicians was still somewhat challenging.

……………….

A strict magic system was developed in Gloria continent over the course of many years (mostly for the purposes of war).

In general, every time the mana level of a magician rise by two, the magic spell that can be used will increase by one level. That is to say, a Rank 10 magician should be able to use a Rank 5 spell whereas a Rank 11 magician should be able to use two Rank 5 spells. And of course, there were some freaks that existed outside of the system such as the necromancer Rodriguez.

……….

God’s Essence was the purest form of soul energy, and Rogge, whose soul and body have been completely transformed by will use to create his magic pet.

In general, magic pets and their summoning were monopolized by high-ranked magicians.

On the other hand, “Creation was God’s domain,” the necromancer thought. However, the necromancer had never respected the Gods and was once again occupied with fusing the soul and remodelling the body.
After completely fusing the Soul Bead into the body, Rogge’s physical body had already been altered beyond recognition. But due to all kinds of considerations, Rogge’s outer appearance remained the same. He was still short and stout, fat and chunky, with an ordinary face and a pair of insidious eyes.

………..

Rogge did not really have any objections, even if he did, he would not dare to express them. Though after understanding the origin of God’s Essence, he felt that he could earn an envy of Buren, the Cardinal of the Holy Church.

“He definitely won’t be the last one.” Rogge thought venomously.

After three days and three nights of a dream-like life and being reprimanded by Frost countless times, the necromancer finally finished his work.

Rogge woke up.

From now on, Rogge was still Rogge, but Rodriguez was Rogge as well. The necromancer had escaped successfully from Heaven and placed an apple on the chessboard.
