Chapter 13: The Rout

Chapter 13: The Rout

The snow fox knights bypassed the frontal spider web with skill, overtook the infantry, and began to chase after them.

Rogge and others fled and when they looked back after fleeing for some two miles they could see dust billowing. The snow fox cavalry was already catching up to them. The noble debauchees were so frightened that they turned their horse's head, and rapidly fled toward the magical Forest, some ten miles away.

Hartley leisurely chased after them in a slow speed, with the speed of snow fox cavalry,  he will be able to catch up with those rabbles in no time. However, he who had been suppressed for nearly a year did not see this small force as a formidable enemy.

He was known as "butcher Hartley" for a reason!

..........................

Every time they chased ten miles, there will be a snow fox knight returning to guide the infantry, and two miles or so ahead, a group of five highly skilled knights would be following Rogge and others.

Hartley really liked the feeling of wind blowing in his face while galloping in the strong wind.

Under the rush of the chase, his blood slowly boiling, and the nameless flame was constantly burning his nerves. Looking from his sight,  the land was already blood red. Hartley seemed to see the clowns running in front of him on the tip of his halberd!

Blood flowed down from the halberd and dripped in his mouth. "Damn, it's really thirsty!!" Hartley's heart cursed.

......................

Rogge and others fled towards the side of the Magical Forest, slowing down the speed, and suddenly turned around with the command from Keith. The five snow fox knights half a mile back pulled the horse's head and flexibly reined their horses and stood still, maintaining the distance.

They were light on riding, but much stronger than Rogge and others.

In a twinkling of an eye, Hartly had already caught up and slowed down on the outside of the forest. A snow fox cavalry stepped back and prepared to contact the infantry.

Suddenly, a sound of "woosh" sounded from the forest, an arrow like lightning bolt shot toward the cavalry and passed through his chest, and with a rain of blood flew dozens of meters away, obliquely inserting on the ground.

This sudden arrow shocked everyone.

Then, with the sonorous sound, hundreds of cavalrymen rushed out of the Magical Forest and surrounded Hartley's rear.

Deep in the forest, Frost shouted, "You had this arrow, why didn't you shoot the magician, You pig brain?" he said to Lawrence while beating his head with a rod. "If I cannot fight the magician, I'll take you as a shield!"

The arrow just now was indeed shot by Lawrence, it was his hard work of few months, however, just loosing an arrow had exhausted the whole strength of his body. At this moment, Lawrence was really worse than a waste.

Hartley calmly looked at the knights who have surrounded them at the back, and when he saw Emmet and the fifty horsemen behind him, his pupils shrank. As for the halberd knights, he did not even look at them.

Hartley looked back at Rogge in front of him, and the people who had been swept by his eyes all subconsciously bowed their heads to avoid his gaze.

Hartley faced the sky and laughed wildly, he lifted the halberd up high and pointed at the Emmet. Hundred snow fox cavalry turned around with such swiftness that their hooves sounded like thunder, and the alignment of the marches formed a natural frontal strike formation.

As their speed increased, the high halberd slowly lay flat, like a forest that was cut down, pointing to the "Dragon and Beauty" mercenaries in front.

Rogge was pouring out buckets of melted snow water from his head, and his head was becoming colder. Rogge originally thought that Hartley and others would attack the obviously weaker side of the force, just in time to lure the snow fox cavalry into an ambush in the Magical Forest.

Unexpectedly, Hartley's target was on the opposite side, toward the strong Emmet's side. (In the eyes of Rogge, the strength of the team is basically equal to the number of the team).

Not thinking too much, Rogge immediately chanted a spell, quickly adding a magic shield and acceleration to himself, and also used magic scrolls for Keith and Franco, adding to their acceleration.

Emmet quickly came out of the shock and calmed down, and he was still a bit familiar with military common sense. He knew that there was only one dead end if he fled at this moment. However, it was hard to say whether the outcome of the collision will result in defeat or victory. He raised giant sword with both of his hands and blessed himself with an acceleration technique. And howling like a madman he led his knights to charge.

The two group collided with each other like iron hammers, people howling all around like madmen.

In the crowd, Hartley’s arrogance was like a thunder, with his every strike a faint light flashed and a knight would be dismounted.

While Emmet was furiously wielding a sword to cut down two snow fox cavalry, his back was chopped by a sword in the chaos, but as his armor was one of the "Hammer of War God" product and instead of harming him, that sword collapsed.

However, this powerful sword also made him look black. He gasped a little and suddenly saw the demon general Hartley rushing toward him.

The faint flash of Hartley's halberd stunned him as he trembled slightly,  his blood spurted to the four sides. The tip of the halberd was like the finger of death locked at his heart.

While desperate, Emmet struggled to raise his fighting spirit. He screamed and greeted the sword. The giant sword drew an arc in the air and slashed.

Hartley's eyes had become blood red, and the low growl was being emitted from his throat. Emmet's all-out sword only made his halberd move a little bit as it still stabbed on his thigh.

"Creak" A sound making one's teeth ache resounded. Hartley's halberd tip had punctured no more than three inches.

Hartley was stunned, and he usually pierced any standard knight's body armor with ease in a shot. It seems that this kid's armor was really not bad, but it was hard for him to live with it alone. Hartley took a large breath and erupted with vindictiveness. He struck at the Emmet and at the end, there was an immediate burst of blood mist at the place where the Emmet was struck. Hartley took the halberd and raised it high again, striking Emmet with full force and flinging the whole person backward.

...............................

In the blink of an eye, Hartley had led the team to penetrate the formation created by Emmet.

When the snow fox cavalry formation made the turnabout, Rogge and others had arrived and joined forces with the remaining cavalry.

With only one impact, the "Dragon and Beauty" mercenary group had the casualty of more than forty knights, while the snow fox only had ten fallen cavalry.

Now "Dragon and Beauty" held no advantage in terms of number.

Hartley put the tip of the halberd in his mouth and licked the blood on it. He bit down a piece of minced meat on the halberd, and chewed it, while the blood continued to flow down the corner of his mouth.

Hartley's face was even more sinister, and the halberd was slowly lifted again.

With a cry, a fireball flew out of the forest and hurled toward Hartley’s cavalry. A person with the appearance of the cavalry knight in the formation also rapidly chanted a spell, sending out a fireball to meet the incoming fireball.
"Bang," the two fireballs collided, scorching the earth within a radius of ten meters. The Snow Fox Mage took five cavalry guards and rushed out of the team toward the forest. While on the road, the two mages exchanged two fireballs again.

Hartley did not pay attention to the battle between the Mages. With the halberd raised, Hartley with the murderous aura led the squad once again rushed to the "Dragon and Beauty" mercenary group.

Seeing this Keith yelled: "There is still a way! There is only one dead end behind us! Brothers follow me!!"

He took the lead and rushed out. The former guardian of the Duke of Winnington kept up, followed him and after them the mercenaries raised by the Dragons and Beauty.

A hundred half-hearted cavalry rushed to the opponent in order to survive.

......................

It was another bloody clash.

Hartley was so excited that every pore in his body was screaming, and the halberd in his hand flicked like a viper, constantly shredding the flesh and blood of his opponent. His extremely fierce strike pierced toward the throat of a halberd knight, and with the huge momentum pierced the neck of the knight. Blood spurted from the pitiful knight's neck. The whole head was only attached to his body with a thin layer of flesh

Hartley suddenly felt the pressure getting lighter after he broke through the opponent’s formation.

He turned the horseback and looked at the formation behind. However, he saw Rogge and others with the remaining sixty remnants cavalry rushing toward the Magical Forest to escape. Hartley could not help but admire his opponent's decisiveness. During this clash, the snow fox cavalry had slaughtered more than ten people.

If Rogge had chosen to turn around and run away to escape, he would be caught up by the superb snow fox cavalry. At that time, with the exception of a few highly skilled knights, the rest could not have escaped the annihilation of the army.

Hartley stared at the fleeing "Dragon and Beauty" mercenaries for a long time and raised his halberd roared, "Chase!"

With the neighing of the horses, more than 80 riders of snow foxes started to chase.

Rogge leaned on the horse's back and galloped into the Magical Forest. His mind was almost blank despite the oncoming branches constantly striking heavily on his head. Even though he didn't have any consciousness he recognized the magical signs in the distance subconsciously and lead the squadrons behind him to escape to the scheduled ambush site.

.............................

This operation was a mess from the beginning!

Initial intelligence was insufficient, encirclement tactics were naive and ridiculous.

"Dragon and Beauty's self-righteous combat effectiveness in the face of the powerful and veteran snow fox all turned into a farce.

The two clashes with snow fox took the lives of nearly a hundred people and attempt to lure the enemy to ambush point was a complete failure.

The other side's Knight in silver armor (Rogge and others did not know Hartley's name and information) and his devil-like killing means, chewing the flesh of the soldiers and blood dripping from the corner of the mouth, the halberd piercing into the body and turning it into the fog of blood, flashed like lightning in the mind of Rogge. Every time the bloody picture flashed into his mind, there were countless thunderbolts, shocking Rogge in a bout of dizziness.

The surrounding scenery seemed to have turned into a flat landscape, with only a buzzing sound in his ears, and nothing else could be heard.

Rogge subconsciously ran in a certain direction, completely unaware of why he ran there or for what purpose.

.....................

In another part of the Magical Forest, the battle between Frost and Snow Fox mage was nearing its end. The forest had been bombarded with magic upon magic by two of them, and both sides using all of their mana.

Behind the Snow Fox mage, there were several bodies of knights sprawled on the ground, which was the masterpiece of Frost's series of lightning.
The mana consumption of Snow Fox mage was too large, and now he could only support a shield while his whole body was shaking slightly.

He was very depressed, although he was clearly at the higher level than the Frost, at least two levels, his opponent was outfitted with a good equipment and was fighting for himself. However, he had to think about the safety of five knights. Fortunately, Frost's mana too seemed to have been exhausted.

The snow fox mage smiled and laughed "hahaha" three times while looking up at the sky, and fished out a scroll of a fireball from the bottom of the pocket brushed off the dust on the body. He pulled himself together while posing in a posture, loudly chanted the spell, which began to sway strongly.

Just after chanting two syllables, he stopped. The Snow Fox mage was stunned and watched the Frost's amulet flash, and turn into the shield cage that was enough to completely guard against the fireball. Then he took out a large bundle of colorful magic scrolls from his pocket and started to select them.

"Ah...!" The scream of the Snow Fox mage resounded through the forest, and then the eerie voice of Frost was heard: "In the next life if you want to be a mage, learn to make money first."

...............................

The frightened Rogge was stupidly running wild. Suddenly, his chest experienced a heavy blow, he felt dizzy and fell down from the horse.  When the Rogge woke up, he struggled to push away the object pressed against his body.

He took a look at the object and found that it was the body of a "dragon and beauty" mercenary. The mercenary's eyes were wide and had no life, and his chest had a bowl sized hole, the blood from it had drenched Rogge.

Rogge hurriedly pushed the body away from him, and looked up, he could not help but be stunned. A face full of beard, and hideous face of the snow fox cavalry was staring at him with a sneer, causing Rogge's body to become stiff.

The snow fox cavalry laughed wildly and slammed the halberd, drawing an arc and stabbing at Rogge's chest. Rogge opened his mouth and tried to scream, but he couldn't make a sound.

The halberd became slower and slower in his eyes. He could see the sharp edge of the halberd tip, the blood beads scattered around him, the minced meat on the halberd, and even a small white intestine.

Rogge still couldn't move.

Fear hit his nerves like a raging wave, and each of the tiniest nerves was tightening, cracking, and breaking!

The Snow Fox Knight's hideous face was infinitely enlarged before Rogge's eyes!

........................

The levee collapsed.

"I...don't...want...to...die!" The hysterical screams finally burst out!

But Rogge couldn't hear any sound.

The knight’s suddenly horse jerked up and heavily collided with the snow fox knight, making the knight bleed from seven orifices and was thrown off the horse.

With the look of astonishment, he stood up while swaying. But couldn't pay attention to a black fog drifting behind him, and a glimpse of a skeleton looming in the fog. The long handle of sickle held in the hand was lifted high and the cold light flashed.

The knight was cut into two by the strike.

Another burst of blood rain drenched him. Rogge sat on the ground, letting the blood trickle down his face.

One figure after another, the snow fox knights emerged from the forest.

.........................

Keith, who was gradually disappearing caught a glimpse of Rogge sitting on the ground, silently turned his horse and started to intercept the snow fox cavalry.

One after another, the "dragon and the beauty" knights followed.

In the forest, there was another location of the unforgettable battle.

.....................

Rogge suddenly burst into laughter, and in a flash, the laughter turned into a battle cry. He picked up the battle ax and slashed the body of the snow fox knight.

Suddenly, he looked up and stared at the battlefield ahead, his eyes were blood-red, and his face was twisted like a beast.

Rogge suddenly bounced and rushed to the nearest Snow Fox Knight, frightening the horse, and a black gas flashed. Rogge opened the horse's abdomen with an ax and the cavalier was thrown down by the horse. The love followed silently, the sickle flashing, and turning bodies into two.

With his whole body becoming dark red with blood along with the black fog lingering around him, Rogge's personal appearance was like ghosts and demons.

One after another, the snow fox knights were injured and dismounted, and the Love behind him, whether it was a man or a horse, split them into two.
